You are not a Cambodian and not a theravada buddhist and therefore you are amazed. Many people in Cambodia are not happy. Many people have actively participated in the slaughter OR got slaughtered (or both).

The theravada buddhist smile should NEVER be mistaken for being happy.
Ask the Burmese people…

I managed to get to Kampong cham just before the brigde was taken down for the rainy season in 2010. Was a very unique aexperience and the kids on the island were so friendly, giving you ‘high-fives’ as you cycle past! When we got the bus back to Phnom Penh from Ban Lung a few eeks later, the bridge was gone!

I was just searching for photos of Las Rocas and I saw the little cat photo in my GIS. My husband and I saw her on our Honeymoon in March. Glad to see she’s still around

Although the island is great, there seems to be no conservation effort on the part of the islanders to educate the tourists. Tourists were walking out of the ocean with handfulls of starfish and sea fans and stomping around on the nearby coral reefs. Very sad. And the bathrooms did suck. The gunshots we heard one night sucked more. Breakfast was great though. Hope you had a “monkey lala”. Great underwater photos BTW. What type of camera is that? Thanks!
